Why an orbital model

Planets do not multitask. On phasing a life instead of balancing it — and what sits at the center.

Planets do not multitask. Each one holds a single path and keeps its own period, and the system works precisely because nothing tries to be everywhere at once.

That is the whole idea. I stopped trying to balance a life — equal weight to everything, every week — and started phasing it instead. Markets can run close and fast for a season while astronomy swings out to the far side of its loop. Nothing is abandoned; it is simply at a different point in its orbit, and I know it comes back around.

The center is not a job or a project. It is the small set of values with enough mass to hold everything else: curiosity, discovery, freedom, discipline, growth. When one domain starts pulling the others off their tracks, that is not momentum. That is a system losing its star.
